Undefeated current WBC world youth silver featherweight champ, "The Great White" Brayd Smith will put his title on the line when he takes on 3 division Tanzanian champion, Jay Jay Ngotiko on the undercard of "Smithy Brings the big fights 7" at Rumours International in Toowoomba on July 4.
Smith, 9W(7KO) 0L, won the title with a first round KO over Filipino Gabriel Altarejos in October of last year and has since had two more wins, however this will be his first defense of the title.
"I am extremely honoured to be able to defend this belt" said Smith.
"The WBC is a prestigious body and this title means the world to me so I am working extremely hard. I know Jay Jay is a fit, strong athlete and having won 3 national titles he knows what it takes to win big fights, however I will give absolutely everything on July 4 to keep my belt."
Jay Jay, 8W(3KO) 2L, is a 3 division Tanzanian ch ampion having won the title in the Super bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight divisions and has vowed he is coming to win on July 4.
"I am very excited for this fight in Australia," said Jay Jay.
"I am training very hard to win as early as possible or on clear points".
This fight will take place on the undercard of "Smithy Brings the Big Fights 7" at Rumours International in Toowoomba. Headlining the fight night will be the long awaited rematch of former two time world champion Michael Katsids "The Great" against England's Graham "Duke of" Earl for the WBU world junior welterweight championship. Also on the card will be the battle of the big men "The Hermanator" Herman Ene-Purcell vs "Frosty the ice man" Jamie Frost. "Iron" Will Young will square off against Emanuel Micallef for the Australian featherweight title. English import Darren "The Cumbrian Cyclone" will take on Indonesian Eddy Comaro as well as fellow Englishman Josh "The Boss" Baillie, Filipino star Jack Asis, Kyle "Tank" Teer and Tressa "T-Rex" Lindenberg.
Tickets are on sale now at Smithy's Gym. The prices are the same as the previous event at $95 for Ringside A, $75 for Ringside B and $55 for general tickets.
