Bradley Pryce has called time on his professional boxing career after suffering a stoppage defeat.

The Welshman, whose nickname is ‘Sugar Sweet’, had his challenge against Derby’s Zach Parker ended inside four rounds when the ringside physician pulled him out of their Preston Guild Hall clash with an eye issue.

The pair met over six scheduled rounds, as part of the undercard to Robbie Davies Jr’s WBA Continental super-lightweight title defence against Zoltan Szabo, which was screened exclusively live free-to-air on ITV4.

But shortly after the fight the 35-year-old (38-22, 20 KOs) revealed on social media that he wouldn’t be continuing in the sport.

“I’m done,” he tweeted on Saturday evening. “[It’s] time to end my career.”

At the height of his career, Pryce reigned as the Commonwealth super-welterweight champion for over two years, making six successful defences before losing to Matthew Hall at the Manchester Arena in 2008.

In a number of fights since then, he boxed Siarhei Rabchenko twice and won his previous three before defeat to Parker and less December’s points loss at the hands of Luke Keeler.

With the victory over Pryce, Parker advanced to double figures in the paid code, moving to 10-0 with seven stoppages.
