Blah, blah, blah. At this point, Brian “Bomac” McIntyre isn’t expecting much in terms of respect when it comes to his fighter Terence Crawford.

For years on end, Bomac has sat back and watched as Crawford has pilfered countless world titles while making some of boxing’s elite look very much ordinary. Yet, becoming a three-division world champion, including an undisputed run at 140 pounds, has only resulted in Crawford being lambasted left and right.

By and large, both Bomac and Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) have ignored the critics but come July 29th, the highest of praises could be headed in their direction if everything goes according to plan. On the night, the WBO welterweight titlist will put it all on the line when he takes on IBF, WBA, and WBC 147-pound champion, Errol Spence Jr.

Spence’s pedigree and violent fighting style have been lauded by just about everyone in boxing circles. But, despite being fully aware that defeating Spence will be an uphill battle, doing so would be the fastest way for Crawford to earn his respect once and for all.

As Bomac continues to push Crawford during training camp, the world-renowned trainer becomes a bit despondent. Although on paper a win over Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) should shut his critics up for good, Bomac isn’t banking on it. In fact, in his view, once the dust clears and Crawford walks away with all of the welterweight jewelry, Bomac has a hunch that most will find a way to discredit Crawford’s latest achievement in the ring and throw dirt on his name.

“I bet you this,” said Bomac during a recent interview with Fight Hub TV. “When Bud beat his ass, there’s gonna be an excuse. They gonna move the goalpost back a little bit further. They gonna come up with something. Just watch.”
