Pugilistic Promotions’ “Badia Spices Friday Night Fights” returns with a stellar night of boxing on January 14th at the Magic City Casino featuring what promises to be a war between two unbeaten light heavyweight prospects.
Azea Augustama (9-0, 6 KOs) takes on Denis Grachev (8-0-1, 5 KOs) in the eight round main event. Augustama represented his home country of Haiti in the 2008 Beijing Olympics before turning pro. Even since then he hasn’t disappointed, winning all nine of his fights while becoming one of the most exciting young fighters in the division.
In front of him he has a tough opponent in Grachev. The Russian born fighter is exactly that – a fighter. Aside from his unbeaten boxing record, Grachev has also fought in mixed martial arts on three occasions, winning two of those bouts.
“This is a magnificent card,” Pugilistic Promotions promoter Ramiro Ortiz said. “We have very aggressive fighters, and evenly matched fighters. There are some very good prospects on the card which excites me not only as a promoter, but also as a fight fan.”
Also on the card is fan-favorite Xavier “X-Factor” Burgos (6-1, 2 KOs) taking on Ray Betancourt (8-5, 3 KOs) in a six round junior welterweight bout.
In cruiserweight action, Cuban fighter Yunieski Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO) goes face-to-face with another undefeated fighter in Kentrell “The Beast” Clairborne (2-0, 1 KO).
In another fight in which “the 0 must go” Puro Pairol (2-0-1, 1 KO) of Cuba takes on Albert Mercado (3-0, 1 KO) of Puerto Rico in the lightweight division.
In a battle of the big boys, heavyweight Glendy Hernandez (3-0, 1 KO) steps into the ring versus Alberto “El Caballo” Jimenez (5-2, 5 KOs) in another scrap between Cuba and Puerto Rico.
Lightweights Larry Yanez (0-1) and Mike Stanford (0-1) go head-to-head looking for their first pro win.
Two other bouts will be announced shortly.
