Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank is planning to send a doctor to the Philippines to evaluate Manny Pacquiao's right shoulder injury.
Pacquiao suffered the injury during the fourth round of his twelve round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their WBO/WBA/WBC welterweight unification on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He had surgery on the rotator cuff and is expected to remain out of the ring until 2016.
Arum was angry with Pacquiao a few weeks ago, because the fighter bailed on his scheduled rehab session in the United States from July 1 to the 4th.
Pacquiao appreciated Arum's concern but said there was no reason to worry because he is currently rehabbing the injury on his own. He says the arm is easily moved without any pain. Arum is fine with Pacquiao's position to self-rehab, but still plans to send a doctor to the Philippines to take a look.
“It is fine with me if he’s not going to be here in the US at the end of the month because the doctor was amazed when he watched the three-minute self-rehab video of Manny,” Arum told The Manila Times.
“A doctor will go there in the Philippines in the next couple of weeks to evaluate Manny’s shoulder and I’m really optimistic about it. I cannot say anything yet about his next fight since he is not yet healed.”
