NEW YORK — Well, we can scratch Mikey Garcia-Yuriorkis Gamboa from our list of intriguing possibilities on the spring schedule.

Representatives for Garcia (34-0, 28 KOs) and Gamboa (23-0, 16 KOs) have discussed matching them as early as May 17 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., but promoter Bob Arum doesn’t think the fight can be made.

“Mikey, we’d like to get him back in action,” said Arum, whose Top Rank Inc. promotes Garcia. “There’s nothing but silence from HBO. Garcia-Gamboa is not going to happen because, frankly, who the f*** is Gamboa? Why should he be getting as much money as Garcia? He hasn’t fought on HBO. He f***ed me in the [Brandon] Rios fight. What kind of sh*t is this? What, 50 Cent singing songs? It’s not going to happen.”

Garcia is coming off an easy but boring 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over Mexico’s Juan Carlos Burgos (30-2-2, 20 KOs) on Jan. 25 in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. The two-division champion from Oxnard, Calif., said before and after he beat Burgos that he wanted to box Gamboa, yet made it clear that it was up to Top Rank and rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who promotes Gamboa, to make that lightweight fight a reality.

The 32-year-old Gamboa, a 2004 Olympic gold medalist from Cuba, hasn’t fought since he out-pointed Colombia’s Darleys Perez (29-1, 19 KOs) in a 12-round bout June 8 in Montreal.

Arum’s backup plan is to match Garcia, the WBO super featherweight title-holder, against Japan’s Takashi Uchiyama (21-0-1, 17 KOs), who owns the WBA title, in a 130-pound championship unification fight. HBO Sports executives aren’t interested in broadcasting Garcia-Uchiyama, according to Arum, who added that he’ll probably promote that fight in Macau, China.

“[Uchiyama is a] very, very good fighter,” Arum said. “He’s been a champion [for four years]. I’d like to match him and Garcia. I have as much chance of doing it on HBO as the man in the moon, so I’ll probably end up doing it in Macau.”
