Later tonight, former welterweight champion Antonio "Tornado de Tijuana" Margarito (40-8-0, 27 KO's) will return to the ring against Carson "Mr" Jones (40-11-3, 30 KO's) in a ten round, super welterweight encounter at the "Manuel Bernardo Aguirre" Gymnasium in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Margarito is already targeting some unfinished business - a trilogy showdown with Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs) in December.

Last Saturday night, Cotto returned to the ring and captured the vacant WBO junior middleweight title with a twelve round decision over Yoshihiro Kamegai.

In 2008, they collided for the WBA welterweight title in Las Vegas, with Cotto suffering his first career defeat by way of an eleven round stoppage.

They had their rematch take place in the fall of 2011, with Cotto getting revenge with a ninth round stoppage after the ringside doctor felt Margarito's right eye was too badly swollen to continue in the fight.

Margarito was livid over the stoppage, as many felt he was starting to come on in the fight.

Because of the right eye issue, he walked away from the sport for four years and finally made his return in early 2016. And this will be his third fight in the comeback. The first two bouts saw Margarito pick up victories over Jorge Paez Jr. and Canelo's older brother Ramon Alvarez.

With Cotto planning to retire in December, Margarito wants to be the fighter who sends him packing. But in order to put himself in the conversation, he must overcome the challenge of Jones.

"I repeat: I will win on Saturday, it will be a great fight and then I will ask for Miguel Cotto - because I want to retire him in December. That rivalry is still not over. He punches like a girl and he knows that he was assisted in the second fight. But right now my focus is on Jones," Margarito said.
