You almost never see Terence Crawford smiling once he’s inside the ring. Actually, you rarely see him smiling outside of it either.

For the 35-year-old, he comes off as unforgiving and mean. His actions once the bell rings mirror that. Earlier this year, for the 11th consecutive time, a Crawford opponent was unable to reach the final bell. While it’s commonplace, few expected him to dismantle Errol Spence Jr. a few short months ago.

It was built up as a 50/50 matchup and a tit-for-tat battle. However, first-round aside, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) issued a one-sided beatdown to the former unified champion.

With all four welterweight titles now draped over his shoulders, Crawford’s already puffed-out chest protrudes just a bit more nowadays, his voice is a bit deeper, and the menacing glare he gives his opponents and media members feels more terrifying. But while Crawford, by and large, is viewed as the best fighter in the world and a flat-out killer in the ring, Angel Garcia isn’t buying it.

The current father of the former two-division champion, Danny Garcia, knows Crawford like the back of his hand. In addition to watching his career play out, Angel observed Crawford in the amateurs. In the unpaid ranks, both Crawford and Angel’s son split a pair of meetings. Up until recently, the two campaigned in the same division.

At one point, it seemed likely that the pair would rekindle their rivalry in the pros, but with Crawford stating time and time again that he’s only interested in fighting Canelo Alvarez, Angel has moved on.

As for media pundits and fans who continue to praise Crawford with superlatives, Angel believes it’s well deserved. But, for those who are convinced that Crawford can simply waltz through anyone without breaking a sweat, Angel rolls his eyes incredulously as he vehemently disagrees.

“He ain’t no killer,” said Angel Garcia to AB Boxing News. “He can be beaten too.”
