ANAHEIM - Welterweight prospect Alexis Rocha dropped Brad Solomon once en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Scores were 100-89, 99-90, and 97-92 for Rocha, who improves to 16-0, 10 knockouts.

The southpaw Rocha was coming off a knockout victory over Roberto Valenzuela, Jr. in his last bout on Dec. 13. Rocha was hurt during the second round, regained his composure and battered Valenzuela to the point he did not answer round 6.

Solomon fought on the same Dec. 13 card, where he was stopped in round 5 by hard-hitting welterweight sensation Vergil Ortiz.

Rocha was the aggressor during the first two rounds, closing the distance and connecting with hooks and crosses to the head and body. The pace of the fight slowed down during the third round as Solomon looked to counter.

Solomon did find success during the middle rounds, landing lead right hands to the head of Rocha. Solomon also closed the distance between the two fighters to throw and land left-right combinations to the head.

The fight seemed like it was up for grabs entering the 10th round, but Rocha was able to seal the victory by dropping Solomon to the canvas. Rocha hurt Solomon with a right hook followed by a barrage of punches to the body.

Solomon did beat the count and fought back, even connecting with a right uppercut to the head that snapped Rocha's head back. Solomon threw everything at Rocha until the final bell sounded.

Solomon, who resides in Douglasville, Georgia, drops to 28-3, 9 KOs.
