This past Saturday night in Uniondale, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight champion Sergey Lipinets made his welterweight debut and won a ten round decision over Erik Bone.

The fight was not easy, Lipinets had his fair share of issues with Bone's style and he wasn't able to fully figure him out until the final few rounds.

At the moment, there are ongoing discussions for Lipinets to fight on a date in November.

The fight was the first for Lipinets since losing his IBF world title, when he dropped a twelve round decision to Mikey Garcia back in March of this year.

After the fight, the hard puncher made the decision to move up in weight.

According to Lipinets' manager, Alex Vaysfeld, the opponents could potentially be four division world champion Adrien Broner.

"The next fight will be in November. We are negotiating the details, possibly it could be Broner," Vaysfeld said.

It's not the first time where a bout between Broner and Lipinets was discussed.

After Lipinets had won his title, in 2017, there was talk of facing Broner in his first defense.

In total, the track record of the 29-year-old Russian has 14 wins (10 by KO), and one defeat.

Broner is a former world champion at super featherweight, lightweight, junior welterweight and welterweight. On his record, he has a tally of 33 wins (24 by KO), three defeats, and one draw.

Broner's last ring outing took place back in April, when he fought to a close twelve round draw with fellow former champion Jessie Vargas, which took place at a catch-weight. A potential rematch was being discussed, but Vargas made a decision to finalize a deal with promoter Eddie Hearn to compete on the new streaming service, DAZN.

For Broner, a loss to Lipinets would be the end of the road as a top-tier fighter.
