Adrian Estrella couldn't have a more fitting surname. The rising young star (to which estrella translates in Spanish) maintained his perfect knockout to win ratio following a third round stoppage of Philippines' Balweg Bangoyan in their regional super featerweight title fight Saturday evening in Apodaca, Mexico.

The win is already the second of 2014 for Estrella, who hasn't been extended beyond the fifth round in any of his past six contests. A frequent guest star on novelas, Estrella has immediately transitioned into a crossover star in Mexico, and can only continue to grow in popularity with results like Saturday, which advances his record to 17-0 (17KO).

On the undercard, Arturo Santos Reyes received all that he could handle from former flyweight titlist Julio Cesar Miranda in escaping with a split decision. Santos has now won five straight in improving to 17-3 (5KO). All three losses were competitve, including narrow points losses to former champs Hozumi Hasegawa and Fernando Montiel.

Miranda's career has shifted in the exact opposite direction, and now out of control. The 33-year old has struggled mightily in the wake of his title-losing effort to Brian Viloria nearly three years ago, having since amassing a ring record of 2-5-1 (1KO), including six straight winless performances. His overall record now limply stands at 37-11-2 (29KO).

Both bouts aired live on Televisa in Mexico.
